De Melkweg means the Milky Way. It is called like that because the building had formerly been a milk factory. Nowadays you can attend concerts of well-known pop artists and underground performers. Some of the artists that have given a concert at De Melkweg are Richie Sambora, Right Said Fred, Arctic Mokeys, Snoop Dogg, Natascha Atlas, Oscar D’ Leon and Macaco. Besides concerts, you can attend dance- and theatre performances, media events and photo exhibitions. De Melkweg has 5 halls and a restaurant. You can find this concert hall in the centre of Amsterdam, very near to the Leidseplein.
